Message from the Finance Office

By Mrs. Lisa Sieve

Tuition for the 2008-2009 school year is $7,850.00. If you have elected to pay directly to school, either once a year or by the semester, those payments are due by July 31, 2008. Remember to mark your calendars because tuition statements will not be issued until sometime in August. Families paying the entire amount by check prior to July 31, 2008, are entitled to $100.00 early pay discount. Please deduct this amount before submitting your payment. Payments received by us after July 31, 2008, do not qualify for the discount. Prepayments for tuition can also be made beginning as early as June by mailing payments to St. Elizabeth Academy. Please mark your envelopes "ATTN: FINANCE OFFICE".

During the summer months, I will be available to assist you in any way that I can. Notification letters regarding scholarships, financial aid, and any other tuition deduction will be sent by Sr. Lorraine during the month of June. Parents should begin budgeting now for those expenses coming up on Book Day, August 13, 2008. Books will not be issued until full payment is received for books and fees. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Sieve.

St. Elizabeth Academy 2007-2008 Annual Fund

By: Mrs. Celeste Marx
Annual Fund and Major Gift Director

As we approach the end of our fiscal year, June 30, 2008, we thank the parents, faculty, staff, alumnae, board of directors and friends for their participation in the St. Elizabeth Academy Annual Fund. These gifts significantly impact our students and help us fulfill our mission of developing the success woman inside each girl that attends St. Elizabeth Academy.

Participation in the Annual Fund serves as a visible vote of confidence in the mission of St. Elizabeth Academy. Every check we receive contributes to the countless opportunities our students receive at SEA. To date, we have received in excess of $105,000 in gifts toward our $110,000 Annual Fund Goal. If you have not made your 2007-2008 Annual Fund Gift, please consider making it prior to June 30th. The Annual Fund is the best way possible way to make a difference in the future of St. Elizabeth Academy. Whether your gift is $10 or $10,000 it is important that it be made.

27th Annual Dinner Auction
March 7, 2009

Mark your calendars - The St. Elizabeth Academy Auction 2009 is scheduled for March 7, 2009. Co-Chairmen for Auction 2009 are Junior parents, Anne & Sam Scherer and Carol & Joe Herber who have graciously volunteered to lead the auction again. They have brought some interesting and successful changes to our auction which they will expand this coming year. SEA has been blessed with wonderful parent support of our auction in past years. Parent ideas, volunteer efforts and willingness to request auction items, makes our auction a great success. Auction planning continues throughout the summer. If you have a special interest in chairing a committee for 2009, know of a special donor that should be contacted, or have corporate contacts that would be interested in underwriting a part of the auction, contact Mrs. Stockmann in the Advancement Office.

Art Department Request

By Mrs. Patti Siegel, Art Teacher

The Art Department is looking for the lids to plastic gallon ice cream containers because they make great palettes for acrylic paint. We will also use the bucket if you are just going to throw it away, but the lid is of special interest. Thanks!

St. Elizabeth Academy Welcomes Mike Shannon

Mike Shannon

The Voice of the St. Louis Cardinals, Mr. Mike Shannon, expressed his heartfelt gratitude as the officers of the St. Elizabeth Academy Wellness Club presented him with a $1,000.00 check, in memory of his late wife, Mrs. Judy Shannon on April 16, 2008.

Each year the students of St. Elizabeth Academy focus on one of the core values of their sponsors, the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of O'Fallon, Missouri. This year the focus was hospitality. Throughout the school year, St. Elizabeth Academy students sought opportunities within and outside of school to extend hospitality and service to others. The Academy's Wellness Club sponsored a Penny Challenge and in keeping with the theme of hospitality decided that the proceeds should be directed toward a service project.

Mrs. Patricia McLaughlin Bolling, the 1989 St. Elizabeth Academy Distinguished Alumna, and former member of St. Elizabeth Academy's Board of Directors, accompanied Mike on his visit to St. Elizabeth Academy. Mrs. Bolling and Mrs. Judy Shannon were best friends. The presentation was made in honor of that very special friendship, in honor of all those who have waged their war with cancer, and in honor of the life of Judy Shannon and all those she touched with her love, friendship and hospitality.

In Memory of
Sister Margaret Brady, CPPS
1926 -2008

Sr. Margaret Brady

Sister Margaret had a special place in her heart for St. Elizabeth Academy where, in addition to teaching English, she gave her tireless efforts for 6 years as Principal, 10 years as Director of Development, and 2 years as Director of Alumnae. Her boundless energy and hard work evidenced the gift of herself to the school she loved. In recognition for her 23 years of dedicated service to "Lizzies", the Alumnae Association presented Sister Margaret with the Distinguished Honorary Alumnae Award in 1996. She spoke about her memories of SEA at the 100th anniversary celebration of the St. Elizabeth Academy Alumnae Association in 2007.

Since Sister Margaret donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine, there was no wake. An Evening Prayer Service of Thanksgiving with sharing of memories was held on Friday, May 30, 2008, and a Memorial Mass was celebrated by many at the Motherhouse in O'Fallon on Saturday, May 31, 2008. She has molded St. Elizabeth Academy in many ways over time and we are grateful for her dedication.

SEA Mission Statement

St. Elizabeth Academy, a private Catholic girls' college preparatory high school, sponsored by the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of O'Fallon, Missouri, makes academic success an attainable goal for girls who have a wide range of abilities and come from diverse backgrounds. The religious atmosphere, the caring community, and a challenging individualized curriculum enable students to become well-educated, self-confident Christian women in a global society.
